Amor Mehta, MD

Amor Mehta, MD, welcomes patients age three and older to the Neurology Center for Epilepsy and Seizures in Marlboro Township, New Jersey. Dr. Mehta is dual-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in the fields of neurology and epilepsy, and he is one of the country’s first board-certified epileptologists. Dr. Mehta prides himself on his capacity to think outside of the box when considering complex neurological conditions. He has experience developing comprehensive solutions that address the unique needs of the patients he serves.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, Dr. Mehta entered New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He received his Doctor of Medicine in 2007, then completed an internship in internal medicine and neurology at the Rutgers School of Biomedical and Health Science in Newark, New Jersey.

Dr. Mehta undertook his residency training in general neurology at New York University (NYU) School of Medicine in New York City. With the drive to specialize in epileptic disorders, he completed the NYU School of Medicine’s program in epilepsy, receiving in-depth training in adult and pediatric epilepsy and seizure disorders. Dr. Mehta also completed his fellowship training at the NYU School of Medicine within their clinical neurophysiology-EEG track. He is one of only a few board-certified epileptologists in New Jersey and the United States.

Following his fellowship training, he served as the youngest partner working as an adult and pediatric epileptologist and neurologist at the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Saint Barnabas. While there, he held the role as the founding director of the Adult and Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) at the Community Medical Center in Toms River, New Jersey. Within one year, he developed the EMU into the only accredited NAEC Level 3 Epilepsy Center in Ocean County, New Jersey.

In 2018, Dr. Mehta left his group practice, founding the Neurology Center for Epilepsy and Seizures, creating a center that provides comprehensive care for patients with epilepsy, seizure disorders, and other neurological conditions. The practice is his unique vision of developing a community-based “Epilepsy Medical Home” model of care where most related services and diagnostic testing are all in one facility.

Dr. Mehta currently maintains active membership in the American Epilepsy Society, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, and the American Medical Association. He now seeks to advance his vision of improving the quality of care for all people who previously did not have access to comprehensive neurological care.
